Weber State Credit Union is now Ascent Credit Union—a new name  which will help to expand and grow membership beyond the Weber County community and to bring the credit union’s extraordinary service and technologies to those living in Davis, Box Elder and Morgan Counties.

The credit union’s mission of helping members achieve their dreams is not changing. Helping the community achieve upward financial success is still the number one priority, and the new name will allow the credit union to help an even more people.

“We are living in uncertain times right now, but we are working hard to maintain the best service for our members,” said Vickie van der Have, President/CEO. “Credit unions were founded on the principle of people helping people, and that couldn’t ring more true right now. No matter where you are, what you love to do, or who you are with, we put your personal safety and financial security above all.”

The Ascent Credit Union brand was built upon five values—to be helpful, approachable, dependable, trustworthy and compassionate. This foundation was born from the legacy of Weber State Credit Union and the great service members have come to know and love. The credit union will continue to support their current members with even better products and services while working to expand membership and bring great service to a broader community.

Another important part of the rebrand includes the introduction of enhanced business services. The credit union will offer improved business accounts to facilitate the growth of small businesses within the communities it serves. Additionally, new business loans, such as Commercial Real Estate, Equipment, and Lines of Credit will be available to business members.

The name change was not the result of a merger, and the credit union will continue to operate with the same Board of Directors and staff members. Ascent CU is currently working on opening a new branch in the Syracuse area sometime in late 2020 and is very excited to bring their great services and technologies to the people of Davis County.
