Description

Ascent Credit Union is looking for a full-time Real Estate Loan Assistant II to assist loan officers, processors, and lending administration with various responsibilities.

Responsibilities

How You’ll Contribute:

  • Assist in the processing of mortgage & commercial loan applications according to policy and regulations by:
    • Ordering loan payoffs, title reports, and appraisals.
    • Obtaining property insurance declaration pages.
    • Requesting VOEs (Verifications of Employment).
    • Reviewing loan files for compliance and quality.
  • Assist lending administration with monthly and yearly reporting requirements for the credit union including pipeline reports, HMDA, and profitability.
  • Assist lending administration with department projects including writing procedure, updating rate sheets, creating user profiles for software platforms, and configuring software platform settings.
  • Help maintain employee user profiles in the many vendor software platforms that are used.
  • Tracking all real estate loan invoices and ensure they are submitted to accounts payable for payment.
  • Scanning, retention, organization, and quality control of loan files.

    • Email

    • Microsoft Word – including track edits, page and paragraph formatting, and saving as PDF
    • Working with PDF files – including extracting, deleting, and adding pages; and combining separate PDFs.
    • Ability to create spreadsheets and analyze data in Microsoft Excel – including formatting cells, borders, and number format; completing formulas to do basic arithmetic; using SUM, AVERAGE, and SUBTOTAL functions; filtering and sorting data; create and format basic line and bar charts; and print formatting.
    • Aptitude to create and maintain user profiles in lending software programs.
    • Aptitude to configure software platform settings.
  • Willingness and passion for learning and maintaining a high level of proficiency by participating in individual and credit union training.
  • Ability to learn independently supported by mentoring and one-on-one training
Experience

Previous real estate lending experience isn’t necessary.  This is a great opportunity to learn the industry as you learn “hands-on” in addition to individual and credit union training.

Required:

  • High school degree or equivalent
  • 2 years of experience working in a professional office setting

The following will increase the applicant’s potential for hire:

  • High level of proficiency in computer skills including:
    • Microsoft Exel – Pivot Tables; using IF, OR, AND, MEDIAN, VLOOKUP, and HLOOKUP functions; creating charts with two vertical axes
    • Microsoft Word – Mail Merge
  • Experience with residential mortgage and commercial real estate processing.
  • Previous banking experience such as with a call center, teller line, new accounts, loan origination, loan processing, loan servicing, accounts payable, or project management.
  • Experience with exceeding loan production goals, generating leads, and building new relationships.
  • Experience with handling higher volumes of loans.
  • Bilingual (English & Spanish speaking).
  • Previous lending experience in a bank or credit union environment.
  • Previous origination experience with Home Equity Lines of Credit and 2nd Mortgages.
  • Previous processing experience with conventional, FHA, and VA loan origination.
